Upon arrival, group transfer from Florence airport to our villa in Chianti. You’ll have time to unpack. Later, we’ll gather for a short tour led by a family member that will share the story of the house and the family followed by our first Tuscan Dinner and wine.
Chianti region- winery visit- cooking class
After breakfast we will depart on evocative for an evocative journey in the hills of Chianti driving through charming little villages and enjoying spectacular views. Our first stop will be at a family owned winery, where the winemaker will tell us about his wines and then we’ll taste them. What a personal treat.
After having a Tuscan lunch in a trattoria we will visit the tiny but most charming village of Montefioralle. After walking in the picturesque streets we’ll continue to Greve, the unnamed capital of Chianti where you’ll have free time to explore before going back to the villa.
In the evening we will have a cooking class with Christina, who leaves within walking distance from the villa. You will get a chance to see a real Italian home, learn how to make fresh pasta and cook Tuscan dishes for dinner.
Volterra, San Gimignano, Cooking class
After breakfast we’ll drive to Volterra, a medieval walled town, which used to be a key trading center and on of the most important Etruscan cities. Recently Volterra has attracted international for its connection to the twilight series of books and movies. After exploring the town we will visit Giovanni’s organic family farm. We’ll see how they make the famous Pecorino cheese and pasta and enjoy a wonderful lunch in a beautiful setting. In the afternoon we’ll visit San Gimignano known for its striking towers from medieval times.
You will enjoy strolling the cobblestone streets and craft shops. You must have a gelato in the main square at the “Gelato world’s champion” shop. Upon return to the villa we’ll have a cooking class.
Siena – Monteriggioni
This morning we’ll have a late start before we’ll make our way to Siena, a medieval city that has not changed much in 800 years. We will have a guided walking tour, which after you’ll have time to shop or seat in a café in the main square. In the afternoon we will visit Monteriggioni, a charming walled village.
We will have dinner at a local restaurant.
Day Trip to Cinque Terre
Today we will explore the Coast of Liguria visiting “Cinque Terre”. It is a stretched of protected rocky coastline with dramatically situated villages. The only access is by train or by a boat. We will spend our day exploring two of these stunning villages.
Tonight we’ll have a typical Italian Pizza dinner.
Day trip to Florence- Farewell dinner
On our last day in Tuscany we will visit Florence, the capital of Tuscany, a city that you’d always want to come back to and one that has best Renaissance art in Europe. Enjoy the street markets, the fashion and the beautiful sites.
Tonight we will have a farewell dinner in the grand dining room and celebrate our week in Tuscany.
